A man is in hospital after he was stabbed in Co Mayo in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí were called to a house in Tom Clarke Place in Ballina after 4.00am.

They found the victim inside the house.

The man in his 50s was then rushed to Mayo General Hospital in Castlebar for treatment and surgery.
