The principal of a secondary school in Galway is trying to put a stop to her pending disciplinary hearing because she claims it is "flawed".

Last month, Mary Joyce managed to secure a temporary injunction against the board of management at Coláiste Iognáid.

The school, known locally as The Jes, is situated on Sea Road in Galway city and has around 600 pupils.

Disciplinary proceedings were initiated against Mary Joyce last August.

She says she was given a report, which was compiled by the board of management, and made certain findings against her.

Last month, her lawyers claimed those findings amounted to an "outrageous and fundamental breach of basic fair procedures", and she was granted an interim injunction preventing the scheduled meeting from going ahead.

She believes there is a risk of her suffering reputational damage over what she claims is a "flawed disciplinary process".

Today, her barrister told Mr Justice Paul Gilligan that their case needed to be heard urgently - and both sides are due to have their say before a full hearing later.
