A passenger was arrested by police and apparently tasered as a result of a dispute with staff on board an easyJet flight on Thursday.
The incident took place on a flight from London's Gatwick airport that was destined for Belfast just after 8am this morning, after a passenger became unruly in a dispute with staff.
A spokesperson for Sussex police said that the passenger was tasered and arrested on the flight: "Police officers were called to the easyJet flight shortly after 8am to reports of a passenger who was becoming increasingly abusive following a dispute over luggage", adding that he was arrested on suspicion of a breach of the peace.
According to a passenger who was tweeting about the incident, the dispute was based around the passenger's luggage allowance, and that he was "insistent of wearing his man purse".
Man getting arrested on @easyJet flight home to #Belfast because he wants 2 pieces of hand luggage! I'll never mess with easyjet now!

All because he was insistent of wearing his man purse. He tried to insinuate that it was racially motivated https://t.co/Q2UpKMyXaw

A representative from easyJet stated that "whilst such incidents are rare we take them very seriously, do not tolerate abusive or threatening behaviour on board and always push for prosecution".
