While Peter Parker has long been known as the alter-ego of the Amazing Spider-Man, a Minneapolis man, who recently lost his battle with brain cancer, revealed in his own obituary that he had once worn the red-and-blue costume of the New York web slinger.
Aaron Joseph Purmort, 35, published his own obituary in the Star-Tribune newspaper, which has since become a viral hit online. Revealing his moonlighting career as a superhero as well as a marriage to pop star Gwen Stefani, the memorial was written by Mr Purmont and his wife Nora, after they learned that surgery to remove his brain tumour had not been successful.
The obituary reads:
Mrs Purmort helped to spread the obituary online, when she tweeted:
I hope @gwenstefani and I can finally settle our differences. We both loved @purmort http://t.co/nDsUgP2QxF #RIPBigPurm

On her blog, she described how she and her late husband composed the light-hearted obituary.
"Before Purmort died, we had time to sit down and write his obituary," she wrote. "I’ve never laughed and cried more in one sitting, but I’m so glad we got to do this. I love this man so damn much."
