A man in his 20s has died after an assault in Dublin.

Gardai were called to an incident at a unit at O'Casey Avenue in Parkwest, Ballyfermot at around 4 o'clock this morning.

They found the injured man at the scene. He was rushed to Tallaght Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The scene is preserved for forensic examination and the office of the State Pathologist has been notified.
