A man is in critical condition in hospital after a serious assault near Dublin’s Parnell Street last night.

Gardaí said the man, aged in his 20s, is being treated at Beaumont Hospital.

It happened between 4am and 5am this morning at a laneway near Parnell Street.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the attack or who has any information to contact them.

The scene has been sealed off for a technical examination.

No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.
