A 45-year-old man who was shot in Dublin earlier today is now in a stable condition in hospital.

The attack happened shortly after 11 o'clock this morning in the Balbriggan Retail Park.

The man was shot at least twice in the upper body - as he left a gym beside a children's play centre.

He remains in Beaumont Hospital this evening where his injuries are not said to be life threatening.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses.
