A garda investigation is underway after a man was found unconscious and seriously injured in Santry, Dublin this morning.

He was discovered on a footpath on Lorcan avenue at 5.40am, and is now at Beaumont Hospital where he is said to be in a serious condition.

Detectives are looking for help identifying the man, who is believed to be between 25 and 35.

They say he is between 5' 8" and 5' 11" in height, and of stocky build with a very tight haircut.

When he was found he was wearing light brown boots, a green or khaki roundneck T-shirt, and he wore a watch with luminous green straps.

The area where he was found has been sealed off for a technical examination.

Investigators want to speak to anyone who might recognise their description of the man, or who may have witnessed an incident or who may have been in the Lorcan Ave area between 5am and 5.40am this morning to contact them on 01 6664000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
