A 28 year old man has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a 27 year old woman and her eight year old daughter in Killorglin, County Kerry in 2013.
Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy sentenced Aurimas Andruska to life imprisonment on both counts with the sentences to run concurrently.
Aurimas Andruska, with an address at 7 Ardmoniel Heights, Killorglin had pleaded not guilty to the murder of Jolanta Lubiene and Enrika Lubyte.
Ms Lubiene and her daughter Enrika were found brutally stabbed to death in their home at 9 Langford Downs, Killorglin on June 16th last year.
The court heard Ms Lubiene was stabbed 61 times and Enrika was stabbed 11 times.
Both died from haemorrhage and shock due to multiple stab wounds.
The trial, which ran for 19 days, heard evidence from dozens of witnesses.
Andruska had consistently denied the double murder and no motive for the crime was given in court.
A bloody fingerprint found on the stairs in the house matched that of Andruska.
Shortly before 3:30pm and after two and a half hours of deliberation, the jury at the Tralee sitting of the Central Criminal Court returned guilty verdicts on both murder counts.
