A man is due in court charged in connection with burglaries in Offaly yesterday, including one in which a man in his 60s was injured.

The burglaries happened in Birr between 9 and 10am.

The suspect (28) was arrested near the scene of an aggravated burglary by detectives from the Regional Response Unit.

He is due before Portlaoise District Court this morning.

The victim of the burglary sustained only minor injuries.
