An elderly man has died following a collision in Leitrim this morning.

The pedestrian in his 80s was struck by a a four-by-four vehicle at the junction of Glebe Street and Main Street in Mohill just before 11am this morning.

He was taken by ambulance to Mullingar Hospital where he later passed away.

The scene of the incident is preserved for a technical examination and traffic diversions are in place.
