A man in his 30s has died after a crash in County Cavan.

The single-vehicle crash happened just before midnight yesterday on the R194 at Finaway, between Ballyjamesduff and Killyfassy Cross.

The man was killed after the van he was driving left the road and hit a wall.

He was pronounced dead on the scene and his body was taken to nearby Cavan General Hospital.

The man was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

Examination

Gardaí attended the scene to complete a technical examination.

Traffic diversions continue to be in place this morning.

Gardaí in Cavan Garda Station have launched an appeal for witnesses to come forward.

They are particularly looking for road users who were in the area at the time and may have dash cam footage.
