A man has died following a single vehicle crash in Cork overnight.

The 27-year-old man was killed when his car left the road at Kennelworth in Youghal between the hours of 12:30am and 3:20am this morning.

The body of the victim has been taken to Cork University Hospital. The road has been closed for a technical examination and diversions are in place.

Gardai are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash or was in the area of Kennelworth between midnight and 3.00am to contact them.
