A man in his 30s has died following a stabbing in Co Wicklow in the early hours of this morning.

Gardai were called to a house at The Cresent in Meadowvale in Arklow at 12:30am where the man was found.

He was treated at the scene by emergency services and then taken to St.Vincent's Hospital in Dublin, but was pronounced dead a short time later.

Gardai have arrested a man in his 40s in connection with the incident.

He's being held at Arklow Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

A technical examination of the scene is due to take place and an incident room has been set up at Arklow Garda Station.
