An man (82) has died after being hit by a car in Co Cork.

It happened at 8:05pm last night at Kilcrohane.

The man, who was a pedestrian, was taken to Cork University Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly before midnight.

The road is closed for a garda forensic examination.

Gardaí in Bantry are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
