A man has died in a workplace accident in Waterford.

It's understood he fell from a height while working at a cement factory in Ferrybank just after 4pm this afternoon.

He was treated at the scene - however he was later pronounced dead.

A post mortem examination will be carried out at University Hospital Waterford.

Gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority have launched separate investigations into the fatality.
