A man has appeared in court charged in connection with a high-speed Garda chase on the northside of Dublin city last night.
Kenneth Williams of Barry Avenue in Finglas is facing a number of charges, including dangerous driving and resisting arrest.
Up to 20 Garda cars were involved in this high-speed chase that’s alleged to have begun at about 9pm last night in the Finglas area of north Dublin.
Garda Robert Diffley said a stinger device was deployed by Gardaí in pursuit. This is a strip of spikes used to stop a vehicle by puncturing its tyres.
The Finglas based Garda said the car continued along Ratoath Drive where he claimed it hit a patrol car, causing damage to its front bumper.
He said it would be further alleged that the car then reversed into another patrol car before the driver was arrested.
Kenneth Williams is facing three charges of dangerous driving.
The 36-year-old is also accused of resisting arrest, criminal damage, drugs possession and refusing to provide a sample when requested at Blanchardstown Garda Station.
He didn’t apply for bail today, and was remanded in custody to appear in court again via video link next Tuesday.
