A man charged with possession of a slash hook and criminal damage at a house in Cork has been remanded in custody.

18-year-old Paddy O’Driscoll of 2 Rosewood Drive, Charleville, County Cork appeared at Fermoy District Court this morning.

Detective Garda Gary Costelloe told the court the arrest was linked to a long-running feud between two families and said the level of aggression involved has escalated.

He objected to bail due to the seriousness of the charges and said it is his belief that the accused would try to interfere with witnesses.

Judge Colm Roberts adjourned the bail application and remanded O’Driscoll in custody until next Friday to allow for the clarification of other matters.
