A man charged with manslaughter for a fatal stabbing in Kerry has been refused bail today.

He is charged with the manslaughter of Gerard Kennelly who died yesterday morning in Knockanure near Listowel, Co Kerry.

The victim is well-known in the village and his parents both live in the area.

At court this evening, Mr Brady’s solicitor said he should be granted bail and that very strict conditions could allay any concerns.

Judge Alan Mitchell refused bail, citing the seriousness of the charge.

The court also refused bail due to the evidence in support of the charge and the possibility of flight risk.

Mr Brady has been remanded in custody to appear before Killarney District Court next Tuesday.

Gardaí in Kerry say they are investigating “all of the circumstances” around the man’s death and are asking for anyone with information to come forward.

They are also asking for anyone who was travelling through Knockanure between 12am and 1am last night to contact them, particularly those with dash cam footage.
