A 31 year old man has been charged with attempted murder, after a serious assault in Co. Down.

It's in connection with an attack on a woman in Mourne View Park, Newry yesterday afternoon.

The man has also been charged with possession of an offensive weapon, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, assault and assault on police.

He's due to appear at Newry Magistrates Court tomorrow.
