If you think that wedding drama at the altar is a Hollywood invention, than this recent story from India may shock you.

The marriage between 25-year-old Jugal Kishore and his 23-year-old bride Indira appeared to be going to plan, and both families were gathered in Rampur for the 'varmala' ceremony, where the groom garlands his bride.

But, as the Times of India reports, he raised the garland, Kishore began to have an epileptic seizure, and was soon rushed to a doctor.

The bride, angered at the hidden medical condition, said she would instead marry a guest at the wedding -  Harpal Singh, her sister's brother-in-law.

Singh, clad only in jeans and a leather jacket, accepted, and both continued with the ceremony.

Kishore returned a short time later to find he had been replaced, and pleaded with Indira that she marry him, saying that he would be shamed otherwise.

His family tried to convince her with plates and cutlery, but there would be no second change of mind.

Though a complaint was filed at a local police station, an official says the issue has since been settled:

"Both families have amicably resolved the matter. The complaints have been withdrawn."
