A man (29) has been arrested in connection with the murder of James Cahillane in Beaufort in Co. Kerry two years ago.
The body of Mr. Cahillane (58) was found in the badly burned ruin of his house at Ardraw in Beaufort where he lived alone in April 2012.
Gardai believe that the killer of Mr. Cahillane set his house alight in a bid to destroy any DNA evidence.
The man arrested this morning is being held at Tralee garda station where he is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
This is the third arrest made in relation to the murder, after a man and woman were detained last May.
