A man (19) has been arrested after trying to enter Leinster House in Dublin armed with a sword and two knives.
The incident happened shortly after 4:30pm this afternoon.
It is understood the man was holding one weapon - while the others were concealed in his footwear.
Security staff were able to lock the main entrance to Leinster House, and stop the man from entering the building.
He was then detained by gardaí at the scene on the front plinth of Leinster House - the Kildare Street entrance.
He has been taken to Pearse Street garda station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
Gardai say no-one was injured in the incident.
