A man has been arrested following a stabbing in Co. Wexford. The attack happened at a house on Grange Road in New Ross at around 9:30pm last night

A man (34) was seriously injured and taken to Waterford Regional Hospital, where his condition is described as serious but stable.

The arrested man (60) was arrested shortly after the incident and is being detained at New Ross garda station.

He is being held under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The scene is preserved for a technical examination.
