A man has been arrested after an attempted post office robbery in Dublin. Gardai say a man armed with a knife tried to hold up staff at the post office on Collins Avenue in the city.
However the raider fled empty-handed and was arrested by gardai nearby.
It happened at around 3.30pm when the man (40) entered the post office and demanded cash.

A garda unit arrested him a short distance away on the Swords Road, and a knife was recovered.
There was no one injured in the incident.
He is currently being held at Coolock Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
