A teenage girl has told a trial that a man accused of raping a woman with Down syndrome propositioned her for sex a month before the alleged rape.
She claims it happened at the same spot in Dublin city where he is alleged to have met the woman.
The man’s accused of raping the woman in his Dublin flat after she became separated from her mother while out for a jog in July 2013.
Today, the court heard from a girl who said she was 15 when she was approached by a man in the same part of the city a month beforehand.
She claims he offered her wine and cigarettes before grabbing her arm and asking her if she’d have sex with him for €200.
The girl, who’s now 18, told the jury she kicked him and punched him in the jaw before making a run for it.
When asked what this man looked like, she said: “he’s the man sitting in the box”.
Aside from the rape charge, the man also denies sexual assaulting his alleged victim and having sex with a “mentally impaired person”.
