Naked dining is getting one London restaurant’s booking system very hot under the collar, after the new pop-up restaurant The Bunyadi – with a capacity for just 47 diners – has revealed it has a waiting list of nearly 29,000 people.
Describing itself has the purest dining experience in London, the naked experience will see customers chow down on both vegan and non-vegan meals, cooked over a wood-flamed fire. All dishes will be served in handmade clay pots with edible cutlery, in a venue without any electricity. Here’s hoping the cold snap currently gripping the UK and Ireland in a shivery size-reducing fist will soon abate.
Patrons without a penchant for exhibitionism will be able to dine in a clothed area, but the restaurant’s USP appears to be its ‘pure’ section – where diners will sit in robes which they can remove at any point during the meal, though probably best to wait till the soup course has finished. Perched on tree stump stools, all tables in the restaurant will be separated by bamboo screens and lit by intimate candlelight.
“We believe people should get the chance to enjoy and experience a night out without any impurities: no chemicals, no artificial colours, no electricity, no gas, no phone and even no clothes if they wish to,” Seb Lyall, the founder of the group behind The Bunyadi, a word meaning “fundamental, base, and natural,” said in a press release.
“The idea is to experience true liberation.”
The Bunyadi pops open its doors in June, running for three months.
