Tenants from 20 local authority housing estates around the country have submitted a complaint to Europe on housing conditions in Ireland.
The collective complaint has been sent to and accepted by the European Committee of Social Rights.

It alleges breaches of rights under the Revised Social Charter, such as the right to adequate housing, health, representation and participation.
They say the consistent damp and mouldy accommodation is impacting on their families mental and physical health - which is against European standards.

Ireland signed up to the Revised Social Charter in 2000.

The tenants were assisted in compiling the complaint by the Community Action Network (CAN), the Ballymun Community Law Centre, the Centre for Housing Law, Rights and Policy, NUI Galway, the Geography Department at NUI Maynooth and the Irish Traveller Movement.
