In a first for Special Olympics, the athletes and coaches that make up the Games competitors will take part in a colourful public street parade on O'Connell Street, Limerick this evening.

The parade will be open to public spectators and will be accompanied by the Special Olympics Torch Run Team, members of the Defence Forces, marching bands and street performers.

Following on from the Parade, the Opening Ceremony will culminate with a finale in the People's Park, that will launch the Games with the athlete and official's Oaths, the raising of the Special Olympics flag and the lighting of the Special Olympics flame.
