Labour TD Michael McNamara told Lunchtime with Jonathan Healy today that he would introduce an amendment that he deemed constitutional for fatal foetal abnormalities.
When asked if he would propose an amendment, Mr McNamara stated: "Yes I think I would, I think it has to be dealt with.
"Somebody tried and didn't succeed isn't a reason not to try. Yes, I would."
Labour TDs and Senators are to be briefed this afternoon on the advice of the Attorney-General about the new bill on abortion.
The proposals from Clare Daly would allow for abortion when a fatal foetal abnormality has been diagnosed.
The government has been advised that the bill is unconstitutional.
