Kia has announced this morning that they are ready to unveil a new sporty Kia cee’d GT Line at the motor show in Geneva in March. The GT Line cee’d will sit between the standard cee’d and the GT model. This model will be for those who crave the looks of the GT version but won’t cough up the extra cost for the more powerful engine.

The GT Line doesn’t just have an upgraded look, it will also house Kia’s all-new 1.0litre T-GDi engine and the car will bring the new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission to the European market. The sporty looking GT Line will be available with the cee’d, the pro_cee’d and the cee’d Sportswagon.

Inside the GT Line is adorned with higher quality materials and Kia tells us that there is a sportier ambience in the front cabin. GT Line logos will be visible throughout the cabin and the car will also contain the same leather steering wheel and aluminium alloy pedals as those that are in the GT models.

Outside contains ice-cube LED daytime running lights as well as deeper bumpers around the “tiger nose” grille. The back of the car has a beefier, sportier, stance than before with wider GT bumper and twin exhausts. All GT Line vehicles come with new 17” alloy wheels, side sill mouldings and rear LED light units.

With the GT Line Kia will also be debuting their all-new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). This will be available with the 133hp 1.6litre CRDi diesel engine. We’re told that the new DCT can handle torque outputs up to 300Nm. Apparently it also offers faster gear changes than regular automatic transmissions.

With the GT Line Kia is also introducing its new 1.0litre T-GDi engine. This three-cylinder unit has been designed to improve fuel consumption and emissions – this engine represents the first of Kia’s upcoming downsized engines in Europe. The1.0 T-GDi engine produces 120hp and 172Nm of torque.

Kia says that the GT Line cee’d range will be available from the last quarter of this year.
