The Taoiseach and the Minister for Jobs Richard Bruton will launch a quarter of a million euro regional jobs strategy today.
The strategy will be aimed at counties Mayo, Roscommon and Galway where it is hoped 25,000 extra jobs will be created in the West in the coming years.
The plan is the fifth of eight regional jobs plans to be published over the coming months, as part of a new €250 million strategy to increase employment nationwide.
The Department of Jobs and Enterprise says the West is already rebounding from the economic crash with 5,000 extra people at work over the past twelve months.
Key sectors being targeted for the West include agri-food, tourism, medtech, ICT and pharma.
As part of the plan, local enterprise offices will disburse over €3 million in grant funding and provide mentoring support to over 1,000 businesses per year.
