Children's charity ISPCC has today renewed an appeal for teachers to embrace its "Shield My School" campaign which aims to raise awareness about bullying in primary and post-primary schools.
The campaign asks teachers to download a self-assessment toolkit which allows them to see how effective they are in tackling bullying and to determine how to combat the issue.
Originally launched in March, the ISPCC's National Anti-Bullying Co-ordinator Andrew Jackson said it aims to act as a companion to the Department of Education's €40,000 anti-bullying fund announced earlier this week.
''We want the ‘Shield My School’ toolkit to become the number one resource in schools, so that every school has a copy and every teacher in the country is familiar with it. It's an ambitious hope but we believe children are worth protecting," said Jackson.
