Irish Water is insisting that its water metering programme is continuing in Dublin.
It follows a claim from Sinn Féin earlier that the company carrying out the installations - GMC Sierra - has told its subcontractors they will no longer be engaged after this Friday.
The party's environment spokesperson Brian Stanley said delays in the installation process had led to large additional costs for GMC Sierra which are no longer sustainable.
Deputy Stanley called on Minister Alan Kelly to make a statement.
In a statement Irish Water's parent company Ervia says metering in Dublin city has not come to a halt, but it cannot comment on the specifics of its contracts with third parties for confidentiality reasons.
