An Irish teenager is in a critical condition after a fall on the Spanish island of Lanzarote.

Local reports say the 15-year-old suffered head injuries after falling from a height of around 15ft in the town of Puerto del Carmen.

It happened just before 4am yesterday on the Avenida de las Playas in the town.

The boy went into cardiac arrest at the scene but was revived by paramedics and was taken to the Doctor Jose Molina Orosa Hospital in the island’s capital city Arrecife.

The Department of Foreign Affairs said it is aware of the case and is providing consular assistance.
