A major report into the Irish software sector has found that the industry has the potential to create thousands of jobs but many are in danger of being forced overseas.
The report was conducted by a number of academic research institutes including Lero, the Irish Software Engineering Research Centre.
The companies surveyed have increased the numbers involved in software development by over 30% in the past three years.
However, given the shortage of suitably skilled workers here, there is a danger that thousands of jobs could be created elsewhere instead.
