Irish Rail has launched its first external recruitment programme for train drivers.
The transport company says it's expecting to create more than 100 positions over the next four years.
In the past, drivers were recruited internally from within the CIÉ group.
However, Irish Rail now says external recruitment is needed due to expected passenger growth and retirements.
It also comes amid recent expansion to services, such as the 10-minute DART weekday frequency.
There are plans for further growth - such as a 'record order' of new trains and the electrification / DART expansion to Maynooth, Hazelhatch and Drogheda.
People from across the country are being encouraged to apply, with a starting salary of €45,000 rising to a maximum of €57,000 through a pay scale.
Irish Rail CEO Jim Meade said: “Iarnród Éireann is a dynamic organisation, which offers excellent progression opportunities.
"With the planned expansion of services as part of the National Development plan, it is an exciting time to become part of a growing organisation.”
More details are available on the Irish Rail website, with online applications to close on January 14th.
