An Irish man will appear in court in Wales next week after being arrested in the UK over an assault that happened eight years ago.

The man was arrested as he arrived for a stag weekend in Liverpool on Friday.

Donal Dunne (29) from Casement Green, Finglas in Dublin has been remanded in custody in north Wales for failing to answer bail in the UK over the assault.

Two men were wounded in the attack at a house in the town of Llangefni on July 23rd in 2006.

Mr Dunne was questioned about these offences by Welsh police in 2006 and released on bail, but failed to turn up for a subsequent agreed date.

He was remanded in custody on Friday because he was deemed to be a flight risk - and because of the gravity of the alleged offences that he is facing.

He will appear before Caernarfon Crown Court next Monday.
