The Irish Farmers Association is calling on the UN to take the problem of food shortages into account when developing new climate change targets.
The issue is up for discussion during talks in Paris later this year.
The IFA is responding to a UN report, which is predicting major water shortages across the world.

But the association is arguing that Ireland is ideally positioned to grow production sustainably, and any future EU and UN policies must not prevent this from happening.
