Irish Government aid to support victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines will exceed three million Euro.
The Minister for trade Joe Costello has this evening announced that an extra one-point-six million is to be added to Ireland's donation.
Michelle Mac Mullan reports:
An initial one million was pledged by the Tanáiste Eamon Gilmore last Monday, with an extra 500-thousand Euros worth of emergency supplies airlifted on our behalf on Wednesday.
Two members of Ireland's Rapid Response Corps have also been deployed to assist UN relief efforts.
At least 13 million people are believed to have been affected by the so-called super storm which ripped through the Philippines last weekend with winds of up to 190 mph.
Official figures claim the death toll now stands at 36-hundred, however it is feared the final total could be higher.
