An Iraqi Interior ministry official has confirmed the leader of Islamic State WAS wounded in a US airstrike.

It's not yet clear the extent of Abu Bakr al-Bagdadi injuries but it's believed he was hit during a meeting with militants last night.

The leader of I.S. - who is one of the world's most wanted men - has a 10-million dollar bounty on his head.

The pentagon says it still doesn't know if Bagdadi was in the convoy which was targeted.
