Many of the world’s biggest websites are experiencing outages due to issues at a US cloud computing company.

The Guardian, Spectator, Financial Times and New York Times currently will not load, with the websites displaying an Error 503 message instead.

Meanwhile, outages of various sizes were reported at Reddit, Twitch, Amazon, HBO Max, CNN, Etsy, and Paypal, according to tracking website Down Detector.

This 503 error is often shown when there is a breakdown in communication between the web server and the website itself.

The breakdown is believed to be connected to a problem at cloud computing services provider Fastly.

In the last few minutes, the company said the issue had been identified and a fix had been applied.

It warned customers that they may experience "increased origin load" as their websites return, meaning outages may continue in the short-term.
