An inquest into the death of one of the so-called 'disappeared' Brendan Megraw, has heard he was shot in the forehead and dumped in a make-shift grave.

The 22-year-old's remains were located in Oristown Bog in 2014, bringing to an end a 36-year search by his family.

The hunt began on the 8th of April 1978 when Brendan was abducted by the IRA from his home in West Belfast.

Today Dublin's Coroner's Court heard from State Pathologist Professor Marie Cassidy that the badly decomposed body was found doubled over, wearing a balaclava.

“It’s hard enough for us but anybody can imagine a mother listening to how her son was murdered – it wouldn’t be easy to take,” Sean Megraw, brother of Brendan, told LMFM.

“She brought him into the world and to hear how he left the world would be very difficult,” he added.
