Denmark football star Christian Eriksen has thanked fans for their support following his collapse on the pitch last weekend.
The Inter Milan midfielder suffered a cardiac arrest during Denmark’s Euro 2020 clash with Finland on Saturday.
Messages of support have been pouring in from all over the world since his collapse and Eriksen released a message of thanks from his hospital bed this morning.
"Big thanks for your sweet and amazing greetings and messages from all around the world," he said. “It means a lot to me and my family.
“I'm fine - under the circumstances. I still have to go through some examinations at the hospital, but I feel okay.
“Now, I will cheer on the boys on the Denmark team in the next matches. Play for all of Denmark.”
The match was suspended after Eriksen was rushed to hospital; however, it was restarted an hour and 45 minutes later, with Finland winning 1-0.
Denmark team doctor Martin Boesen later confirmed that Eriksen has suffered a cardiac arrest and was “gone” before he was resuscitated.
He said he didn’t know how close we came to losing the former Spurs star but noted that he came back around after one pulse of the defibrillator.
