At the Joint Committee on Health and Children today, HSE said Tony O’Brien spoke about the draft terms of reference into maternity services in Portiuncula Hospital Ballinasloe.

He said "it will include a review of the perinatal care provided to the seven women who were subject to the preliminary review completed in January 2015. The draft terms of reference for the review have been finalised and are currently being discussed with the families concerned".

Warren Reilly and his wife Lorraine's baby daughter Amber Reilly died in 2010 after suffering brain damage from a lack of oxygen at birth, because the umbilical cord was around her neck.

Their daughter Asha was stillborn in 2008.

At Amber's inquest, the coroner requested that a review be carried out on all maternity services at Portiuncula Hospital.

Warren spoke to Newstalk Lunchtime last month about their situation, and he spoke to Jonathan again today following Mr O'Brien's comments.

He has been campaigning to get his daughters' cases to come under the remit of the review. Since they have gone public with their story, they have already received a report from the HSE into Amber's death - more than three years after the report was completed.

While they are not included in the seven mentioned by Mr O'Brien today, Mr Reilly told Jonathan that they are now very hopeful of a review:
