53-year-old Jack Lynam is a double amputee and has been in Beaumont Hospital for over a year now and wants to go home.
Unfortunately he can’t as his council house isn’t wheelchair accessible and won’t meet his needs for at least another year.
Newstalk Lunchtime's Nadine Maloney went to meet Jack and his family.
We contacted Dublin City Council on the issue and they got back to us with the following statement:
‘The waiting times will vary depending on the type of adaptation required, ranging from a matter of weeks to a possible 2 years in the case of extensions.
Where the medical needs of a tenant dictate the construction of an extension, the medical advice will allow for temporary adaptations, to facilitate the tenant access to upstairs living while waiting for the extension. They do not comment on any individual case'
A Benefit Night will be held in aid of Jack Lynam at 8pm on Thursday, 12th March 2015 in the Pull Inn, Pullogh
