The number of people getting married in Ireland is on the increase.
More census figures published today show a 9.2% increase in the number of people getting married between 2006 and 2011.
The married population last year was over 1.7 million up from 1.5 million in 2006.
There was also a significant jump in the divorce rate since 1996 when just 9,787 people were divorced.
Last year that figure had risen to 87,770.
That is an 800% jump in 15 years.
The numbers remarrying also rose sharply from 6,641 in 1996 to 42,960 last year.
Overall men were more likely to remarry than women
39% of men walk down the isle again compared with only 28% of women.
Men are also on average just over 2 year older than their wives or partner.
