Price increases for Dublin Bus, Luas, Irish Rail and Bus Eireann customers come into effect today.
On Dublin Bus those adults paying cash will see a 15 cent increase for the 4-13 stop band to €2.70. On the Luas one, seven and 30 day tickets will increase by up to four per cent.
There will also be increases on some Irish Rail and Bus Eireann services. Commuter train fares are increasing by between 1.8 and 2.1% for Leap cards and by up to 3.7% for cash fares.
One way intercity express fares will not increase but return fares are up just under 2% on average.
The hikes are in an effort to encourage more people to use Leap cards.
Here's everything you need to know about each increase:
Dublin Bus
- Additional 5 cent for zones 1-3
- Merge of stages 4-7 and 8-13
- Increase of 15 cent on stage 4-7 to €2.70, decrease of 10 cent to 8-13
- Five cent increase for school children but no increase on regular children
- No rise in the Nitelink cash fare
Luas
- Seven and 30 day tickets will increase by up to 4%.
- Three zone annual tickets will increase from €850 to €910 but are being scrapped in favour of an all-zone ticket
- No changes to child fares
Irish Rail
- Short Hop zone fares increases between 1.4pc to 4.2pc
- An increase on child, student and weekly tickets
- Increase to Intercity express services by between 1.6% and 1.8%
- 4% increase in the cost of a three day or seven day travel ticket
- Return fares will face hike between 1.6% and 1.9%
Bus Éireann
- Overall fare increase of 1.5%, increase of up to 5% on individual fares
- Increase for Limerick and Galway one and seven day tickets
- Child fares will remain the same
