While Irish men are better know for tripping up than bending the light fantastic, science has come to the rescue. Researchers have uncovered the dance moves women find most appealing, meaning that when you take to the dance floor to bust a groove to the 5ive megamix in Coppers, you can claim your moves are backed up by data.
Evolutionary biologists from universities in England and Sweden have produced computer-generated simulations made from men dancing and asked women to rank the ones they found the most appealing.
The research says that men should try to use their whole bodies more, creating a larger motion of the head, neck and torso while bopping to the beat. Legs were also pivotal, with the leg speed observed whilst bending and twisting the right knee seen as the most attractive.

The research found no correlation between arm poise and pulling power, but the dance below, that you might recognise from the loner standing in a dark corner by himself at 2am, proved to be the least attractive:
