A man arrested over a fatal hit and run in Dublin on Monday has been released without charge.

A girl (2) was knocked down on the North Road in the Phoenix Park at around 6:30pm on Monday evening, and died later in hospital.

A man (24) was arrested shortly after the incident, but was released from custody last night.

A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The baby girl was pronounced dead in the early hours of yesterday morning at Temple Street Children's Hospital.

She was struck by a car which failed to stop at the scene.
